About the Mt Vic Hub

The Mt Vic Hub (‘the Hub’) is a public meeting space and community centre in the heart of Mt Victoria. It’s by the non-profit Crossways Community Trust, which draws its Trustees with connections to the Mt Victoria community, and aims to contribute back to the community through the provision of the Mt Vic Hub and support for other organisations and events. We’ve run the Mt Victoria Community Treasure Hunt, the Mt Victoria Fair and Community Dinners and provide assistance to the Crossways Community Crèche and the Mt Victoria Residents Association, amongst others.

We need someone to join our team to support our busy Coordinator. There’s a number of things we need you to do – if this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

Purpose/Responsibilities of the position

  • Manage all our invoicing and accounts receivable 
  • Manage bookings for the Hub and associated venues, including responding to enquiries
  • Help out at Hub events
  • Support the Coordinator with:
  • management of newsletter process and volunteers
  • management of the Trusts finances
  • management and oversight of the Mt Vic Hub website (maintenance etc)

Key relationships:

  • The Mt Vic Hub Coordinator 
  • The New Crossways Trustees

We need someone who:

  • Is process oriented and detailed focused, to help us keep on top of day to day BAU
  • Quickly establishes and then maintains constructive working relationships 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to meet timeframes and resolve problems constructively within the resources available
  • Well – developed ethical and community values 
  • Enjoys working collaboratively

Qualifications & experience:

  • Can competently and effectively use Xero (preferable but not essential – we can teach you)
  • A good level of competence in basic computer tools – email, online calendar and Microsoft Office
  • Fundraising experience is a plus 
  • A broad range of work and life experiences are applicable to the role – experience in working in voluntary, community or NGO organisations is welcome 
  • A track record in dealing well with people through good communication, humour and patience 

Hours and working arrangements would suit a stay at home parent or someone looking for a flexible community-based role

This role is based on casual hours, at five hours per week. You may work more hours some weeks than others, depending on work-flow. Much of the work can be done from home, in evenings or weekends, however you will need to be available to attend some meetings/undertake some liaison during work hours, and to attend and support Hub events in the weekends. There is opportunity to grow this role over time. 

Wages and employment conditions 

  • The role reports to the Hub coordinator.  
  • We pay the living wage. 
  • Please note if you are offered a role it will be subject to a Police check and references.
